AN UPDATE ON THE SNOOP DOGG CONCERT >> In an abundance of caution for the community, Main Street El Dorado and Murphy Arts District (MAD) announced today that Music Fest 2020 will be canceled. Music Fest 2021 will take place October 1 and 2, 2021. Snoop Dogg and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony will headline Music Fest 2021 on October 2, 2021. Previously purchased tickets will be honored at the new date. Tickets purchased to Snoop Dogg’s Oct. 3, 2020 show before August 16, 2020 may apply for a refund by December 31, 2020. Contact danielh@eldofest.com with your confirmation number to start a refund.

“While we are heartbroken that Music Fest will not be happening this year, the COVID-19 outbreak cannot be ignored,” said Pamela Griffin, President and CEO of MAD. “We will be back next year, bigger and better than ever.”

MURPHY ARTS DISTRICT ANNOUNCES OPENING DATE FOR 2020 FARMERS MARKET

Murphy Arts District is pleased to announce the opening of the MAD Farmers Market summer season starting Saturday, June 13 at 8:00 a.m. The 2020 Farmers Market will run each Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until noon until further notice. As we continue to monitor the worldwide health crisis, the hours may be expanded, reduced or the market postponed/canceled at any time, we will continue to post updates right here on our Facebook page! We're excited to see y'all at the 

Confirmed vendors include: Honey Rock Hand Crafter’sLong's Natural FarmMike Senn Family Farm, and P & L Farms. More vendors will be announced via social media in the lead-up to opening day.

Special guidelines will be followed starting at the June markets and we encourage anyone with an underlying health condition not to attend. Face coverings (mask, bandana, other homemade covering which covers mouth and nose, etc.) must be worn at all times by vendors and patrons. Solo shopping is highly recommended, no groups will be allowed. The MAD Playscape will remain closed at this time.

The following guidelines will be followed at our June markets:
Enter market at the NE corner of Locust Avenue and Hill Street. 
Vendor tables will be spaced at least six feet apart to maintain social distancing. 
No music or any activity will be held that would encourage patrons to linger at the market. 
Patrons cannot touch produce before buying and bagging will be done by vendors only. 
The number of people allowed in the market at any one time will be controlled, and market management will make sure we can easily maintain social distancing at all times. 
No vendor will be allowed to set up if they show any obvious signs of illness. 
All tables will be sanitized before the market and appropriately throughout the market hours. 
We encourage any vendors and customers with underlying health issues to not attend the market. Face coverings (mask, bandana, other homemade covering which covers mouth and nose, etc.) must be worn at all times by vendors and patrons. 
Public restrooms will not be available. 
Credit/debit purchases are recommended, if using cash, no change will be provided. 
Exit at the far end of the market near the MAD Amp stage. 
Dogs will not be allowed at the June markets to encourage our customers to maintain social distancing. 
No groups allowed.

Due to the worldwide health crisis, The Avett Brothers with special guest Tyler Childers concert scheduled to take place on August 8, 2020 at MAD Amphitheater has been postponed until August 14, 2021. We encourage you to hold onto your ticket confirmations, as they will be honored for the new date.

If you purchased tickets for The Avett Brothers with special guest Tyler Childers and are unable to attend the rescheduled date you may apply for a refund by September 3. 2020. Taking the current worldwide health situation into consideration, we have decided to postpone the upcoming MAD BATTLE.  The regional band competition will move from July 17 and 18, 2020 to February 19 and 20, 2021. With the postponed date, we have extended the time frame for bands to enter the competition. Submissions are open now through Nov. 20, 2020.  Bands who proceed to the live battle on February 19 and 20, 2021 will be announced on Nov. 30, 2020. Registration fees to enter are $35 through Nov. 19 and $45 on day of deadline (Nov. 20).

On Friday, February 19 each band of the bands will play a 15-minute set.  Top five will be announced that evening and advance to the Saturday, February 20 MAD BATTLE and perform a 20-minute set before the winners are announced.

Michael Franti and Spearhead's upcoming June 12th show at the First Financial Music Hall has been cancelled due to gathering restrictions nationwide.

We encourage you to hold onto your email confirmations of previously purchased tickets, they will be honored at the new date. Hard tickets were to be mailed out 21 days in advance of the show to prevent speculative ticket sales on resell sites.

Tickets for the new date will be sent out 21 days prior to October 3, unless you request a refund. If you cannot attend the October 3 date and would like to request a refund, please contact danielh@eldofest.com. Please note refunds may take 3-5 business days to process.

MURPHY ARTS DISTRICT CLOSES THE GRIFFIN RESTAURANT, ANNOUNCES SHOW UPDATES

In accordance with Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson’s state-wide directive, the Griffin Restaurant has ceased its operations.

“It is with great regret that like many other entities in the hospitality and entertainment industries, we have had to lay off most of our staff,” said Murphy Art District CEO Terry Stewart. “We have retained a small group of employees temporarily to ‘mothball’ the facilities at this time.”

The Danny Gokey show on April 26th has been canceled.  Refunds are available at point of purchase (Eventbrite.com). In turn, Ron White’s scheduled appearance on May 14th has been rescheduled to December 17th. Previously purchased tickets will be honored at the new date.

MAD’s seasonal farmer’s market will be paused for 2020 and return in 2021.

“We are incredibly hopeful that we will have a full lineup of shows this fall for the community to enjoy,” said MAD COO Pam Griffin. “MAD is currently working with agents and artists to reschedule other upcoming shows including Snoop Dogg. Updates will be posted on eldomad.com as they become available.”

On Wednesday, March 25 MAD will host a virtual art workshop for children called “Matisse’s Garden” via Facebook Live.  Art educator Gay Bechtelheimer will read the book Matisse’s Garden by Samantha Friedman. Afterwards, using scissors, construction paper, and glue, she will guide children as they create their own composition inspired by the magic of Matisse’s scissors.

Murphy Arts District Announces Cancellations

Art Workshops to be Streamed Online

To protect the well-being of our employees, patrons, and artists, and to limit the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), Murphy Arts District is taking immediate steps to scale back our public offerings.

"Out of an abundance of caution for our employees we are taking additional steps beyond rescheduling shows," said MAD CEO Terry Stewart. "Starting today, we are enabling telecommuting when possible, reducing face-to-face meetings with virtual meetings, social distancing, and extra safety and cleaning steps in all of our facilities."

As of March 16, the following shows have been cancelled:

A virtual session of the Art Insight Family Workshop will be held on Wednesday, March 18, at 10:00 a.m. via the MAD Facebook page. MAD Education Director Gay Bechtelheimer will read The Noisy Paint Box by Barb Rosenstock about artist Wassily Kandinsky. After the story, Bechtelheimer will lead children and parents in a family artmaking experience inspired by Kandinsky. Suggested supplies to have on hand: watercolors or crayons, paper, ruler, and pencil. A second virtual session will be held on Wednesday, March 25 at 10:00 a.m. called Matisse’s GardenJoin artist and art educator Bechtelheimer as she reads the book Matisse’s Garden by Samantha Friedman.  Afterwards, she will guide children as they create their own composition inspired by the magic of Matisse’s scissors using their own scissors, construction paper, and glue.

The MAD Playscape was closed last Friday and will remain closed until such time as the Coronavirus (COVID-19) is no longer a threat.  We will make an announcement when we have more information.
